Konso Tribe
Konso Cultural Landscape is another of the 9 UNESCO Heritage Sites in Ethiopia. It lies in the far south of Ethiopia, near the Kenyan border. Konso Cultural Landscape is an arid piece of land, with stone walled terraces and fortified settlements in the Konso highlands of Ethiopia. It constitutes an extraordinary example of a living cultural tradition that has adapted to its dry and harsh environment and dates back over 21 generations or more than 400 years. The Cultural Landscape demonstrates the shared values, social cohesion and engineering knowledge of its communities. Particularly interesting are their traditions of the Generation Tree and the significance of clay pots on the top of Konso houses.
