In 2017, I did a 80 day safari through various African countries, among them Ethiopia. During my travels in Ethiopia, the driver guide assigned to me by the touring company was Alex Girma. I am a single female traveler in my early seventy’s, and Ethiopia was my last stop on the itinerary. The sites I wanted to visit represented quite a challenge: Lalibela, spending the night at the rim of Erta Ale, Danakil Depression, the Omo Valley tribes… Discovering a small part of that extraordinary country under the knowledgable, attentive and refreshingly easy going company and guidance of Alex was absolutely fantastic. What I had seen of Ethiopia was so fascinating that I decided to return and take a more profound look into the country’s culture, traditions and stunning nature.

In 2018, I put together my personal 30 day road trip through rural Ethiopia and contacted Alex directly, asking him to take care of the organizational details and to be my driver-guide. It was the most gratifying experience I ever had. Alex knows his country in and out, he is an excellent driver on the highly risky Ethiopian roads, a great travel companion, open to the needs and preferences of his clients (for example, I dislike being in crowds and he always managed to keep me out of big tourist groups even in the most popular sites, such as Gondar, Aksum or the salt flats) He procured the best local guides, was open to changes in my originally proposed itinerary and knew instantly when I desperately needed a coffee…I can only say again and again “Thank you Alex, for making my Ethiopian magical mystery tour possible.”
So, if you are looking into traveling in Ethiopia, don’t hesitate to contact Alex. You are making your best choice and you won’t regret it.

We were very lucky to have Alex as our driver

Me and a friend of mine made a tour around the north of Ethiopia in December. We were very lucky to have Alex as our driver. He is not only a very good driver but also a good guide (speaks english perfectly and knows all the nice places). Above this all he is a very nice person who takes realy care of ‘his’ tourists. If we ever go back , no doubt he would be out driver
